It has been a busy December with Christmas Markets beginning at the end of November in The Grain Store at Ballymaloe House, and various other local markets including one at Blarney where we gave a workshop on making your own epsom bath salt soak and shower scrubs. We have made all sorts of lovely gift boxes with selection of our orange and geranium bath oils, lavender, chamomile and neroli moisturiser, lavender and oatmeal bath soaks and lovely pink grapefruit lip balm. Our personal favourite was our new cocoa husk and goats milk soap, an exfoliating and nourishing soap with a lovely subtle chocolate  and vanilla smell.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Peaceful New Year.

With summer brings so much to do, such as harvesting calendula flowers, rose petals, lavender, sweet geranium for drying and also for distilling. We have a wonderful copper still and we have been playing around on a very small scale with extracting essential oils from lavender.

We are experimenting with chocolate husks given to us by the cool people at Clonakilty chocolate, see their website here:

We have also started to make soap with egg yolks from our farm and also goats milk. Our chocolate lip balm is in its initial stages but going down a treat with anyone who has tried it so far.

Our aim is to use all natural ingredients without any chemical fragrances which are not nice. So the chocolate flavoured lip balm is subtle, but yummy. It really is an edible product!

Due to a glut of eggs on our farm, we have been experimenting with making soap with eggs. The egg yolks make a lovely speckled pattern in the soap with a lot of lather and is very soft on the skin.

There is a big festival coming up soon called the Ballymaloe Litfest and we will be having a stand to sell our soaps. We have been having fun cutting them into pig shapes, flowers and other different shapes.
